Aside from being Christians, Deepspace5 has always been one of my favorite hip-hop acts. Lead by the insanely talented ManCHILD (1/2 of Mars ILL), DS5 is the 10-headed offspring of the underground Christian hip-hop movement that (get this)… Doesn’t suck! I came across their 2002 release The Night We Called It a Day while copying my friend’s CD booklet into my itunes (remember that shit?). Their music is intellectually sharp, though occasionally stepping into the realm of being a bit too preachy for me. This track is from their most recent album Bake Sale, released through their own label Deepspace5 Records. Though most of their released works are a bit hard to find, if not impossible, unless you are willing to pay, they are worth the hunting… Most of the time.
