While it might be hard to catch me now-a-days throwing down a straight 4-on-the-floor 130bpm electro set, I still take pride in the fact that I was ahead of the curve… By about 6 years. And don’t get me wrong, I still have a special place inside of me that knows it’d be insane to stand behind Xavier & Gaspard’s wall of amps, but I figure that that pedestal is best kept for a chosen few who… For this genre, at this specific time… Have already been chosen. There’s a great deal of intellectual process when steering away from a trend, yet staying categorizable in the current age of self-marketing. You want to be grouped, but not cloned. Associated with, but not confined by. Let’s face it… There is too much music right now. Too many remixes of the same fucking song, too many laptop producers, too many out of key club edits from people who are jokingly promoting themselves as pioneers of something that they know little-to-nothing about. I get it… You have a Macbook, therefore you should be making music in between your shifts at Urban Outfitters… NOT QUITE! There are too many clubs too! Too many here one week, gone the next BS, chopshop flyer neon nights, put together by kids with similar “that looks easy” mentalities.

Electro is a genre, not a trend.

Jump on someone else’s bandwagon. Or better yet, get your pineapple haircut friends together, nurave your way into the forest, cut down a tree, and build your own.

With that being said, I’m happy to bring you one of the ONLY newer electro artists who I can honestly say has taken the time to understand the importance of what he is doing. Public has done a decent sized list of tracks (both remixes and originals) for someone of his caliber. The only one that I have to roll my eyes at was his ‘I Kissed A Girl’ remix, which we posted up HERE. Poppy went postal and took a machine gun to my brain after hearing that song for the 1 trillionth time.
