Deadmau5 - Ghost And Stuff (Original Mix)

First and foremost, I’d like to thank Bushy (love of my young life) for this megatrack. Deadmau5, a favorite of Dreamers everywhere, seems to have release the cross-over single that will project him into the mainstream. Too bad it sounds EXACTLY LIKE JUSTICE (minus distortion, plus side chain compression). I can’t decide whether this track is good, cool, or whether that because I can imagine the alt bros enthusiastic response to it, I have a predisposed disdain for it (I do apologize wholeheartedly for my musical elitism. I am working on it. Seriously). I guess I’m a bit bummed just because it’s so predictable and it doesn’t sound like the Deadmau5 that I love, except for the asshole spoken vocal at the end, which is rad and weird and true. What do you think? Tell us, now…

  2. Deadmau5… what on earth? Semi disappointed with this…

  3. haha… top ten on beatport

  4. Yeah i saw him 2 weeks ago and he played this song and a few other “justacey” songs and i actually was like wow he’s playing some justice songs i’ve never heard of.

    Anyway the crowd LOVED it

  5. Fucking fantastic, not. He’s going to start riding the coattails of the whole Justice/Crookers/Boys Noize/MSTRKRFT wave.

Props to him for reading the market again, I guess.

  6. this song is incredible who cares about the aesthetic

  7. the only people who even notice fitting into genres or label are those who haven’t found theirs yet. this song is good regardless of what he made before or does after.

  8. regardless this is great track. i want to see some mstrkft remix of this somewheres, or a boys noize remix, and the whole comment offa rideing on thier coat tails is just retarded. im pretty sure deadmau5 does not need to ride on any tails for publicity or sales, or anything along those lines. hes done just well with what he does

  9. You negs are all fat homo’s…can you remind me the last time you released a mix…?? thats right…you didnt…shut the hell up and enjoy…

Oh and eric b…Mr Zimmerman has been around longer then all you mentioned…do your homework nerd…actually your not even a nerd…you’re a geek

  10. true, this song has more of a crunchy, electro sound to it and it does have a church organ, but it still has deadmau5’s signature sounds. the drums, the little bloops and bleeps throughout it. its a great song. not all of his stuff sounds the same anyway. look at his crystal method remix and faxing berlin. as far as im concerned, he can do whatever he likes. i dont like everything he makes, but this is a good song regardless.

  11. While I do see the arguement, I see a better one in favor of the song. I really dig this track, and I have been listening to Joel for a while now and love his versatility. This track does have a more electro sound to it as opposed to Joel’s trancy or dark beat or electro house beats, but it shows exactly why Joel is such an amazing producer…….versatility. Deadmau5 is amazing because non of his songs alike, he is able to dip into styles and pull them off extremely well. Ex. Not Exactly, Jaded, Brazil, Clockwork…etc these songs have a very trancy sound (and I hate most trance) but they still have a heavy feel, and they build up and are loaded with energy as opposed to the emotional “think about your life” trance produced by Armen and all those other DJ’s(you know who I am talking about) Then you look at Reward is cheese it is a perfect example of electro house at its best a heavy beat after an amazing buildup. Everything before is a perfect example of the dark beat style that Joel has perfected so well. Then ghosts and stuff hits and I am further amazed, I mean the guy has transcended boundaries yet again. This song combines the electro styles of Danger, Data and yes..Justice but its beat is much more electro house (more spoonish) and there are pauses within the organ to project this sound. I think this is another huge leap for Joel and one of my favorite Deadmau5 tracks (probably top 3). What do you think?

  12. LOUD NOISES!!!

    Love this track

  16. Oh boo to you music elitists! What! Brother man can’t make a epic church disco song, did Justice corner that market? No, it does not sound EXACTLY like a Justice song, if you listen to it, you can tell it’s not them, plus it sounds like a Deadmau5 song with it’s techno tone. Never the less! Don’t be disapointed because it sounds like dundudnk… you know. It’s still a good song, so there. *Drops mic*

  17. P.s. I am a little pissed I spent 2 something to get this song off of Beatport when I could have gotten it here. Weak.

  18. Ain’t nothing wrong with this song. In fact, I downloaded “Random Album Title” without checking to see if it was on there, and I found a kick-arse album.

Next time I’m in town, I’ll order it in!

Oh, and Nepo, best rant I’ve seen for a while. :)

  19. BOMBtrack!! no shit no bullshit, that’s freaking cool as Justice best ones!
come on Deadmau5, we want mOre!!

  20. ya’ll fucking haters, shit slaps, I normally don’t even like deadmau5. Quit complaining you tight jean wearing pricks
