The Streets - Everything Is Borrowed
September 2, 2008
Today could quite possibly be the first day of the rest of my life. Sometime in the last week Mike Skinner’s second single from his upcoming album was leaked, and today it was officially dropped onto tv channels and radio DJ’s desks. After his last leak of ‘The Escapist’, which you can check out HERE, alot of talk was going around as to if it would be the highlight of the album or if it was (hopefully) just a great representation of what the entire disc would sound like. Needless to say, after hearing this song, Everything Is Borrowed will be full of epically gut-wrenching, festival-main-stage-worthy, orchestral-backed storytelling start to finish. September 15th will be a good day. This is a more mature, calmer Skinner. Less scrounging for cash to score, and more inner-peace amidst the beauty of a chaotic world. For anyone who has been with The Streets since its birth in 2000, I believe that this album will feel very appropriate for the time we’ve all spent together.

I sure hope so. His last two albums have been… to put it kindly, shite. At least compared to the master work that was ‘Original Pirate Material’.
Original Pirate Material was totally pertinant when it was released, his age and the content of the album perfectly reflected that time and i reckon for the teenagers of that period, it was a personal sound track. The last album lacked substance, if this one smacks it, legendary status will be restored perminantly.
