Andre Harris - 10 Things Not To Say To A DJ

August 21, 2008

This is the most hilarious, accurate, awesome song ever. The fact that the instrumental is boring doesn’t matter AT ALL because the vocal more than makes up for it. I think the next mainstream gig I do, I’m just going to play it over and over again all night whilst scream-laughing.

After some brief googling, it appears as though Andre Harris has given us (yet another reason) to worship Chicago. I had a brief journey there last week and found it to be superior to the majority of the world in many areas, HOUSE MUSIC being one of them. I mean, seriously, there isn’t much else I can say except that as a DJ this is joke perfection. Twelve billion stars.

THIS IS, WITHOUT A DOUBT, THE MOST FUCKING AMAZING THING EVER. YOU, AS A CLUB GOER, SHOULD BE OBLIGATED TO LISTEN TO THIS PRIOR TO ENTERING ANY VENUE.

Actually, I do sometimes DJ songs without a beat. It’s fun!

Also, my audience? Me. This probably explains why I never get booked.

Also, this song is pretty crap.

The words to this song are from an essay on DJing that came out about 15 years ago. I don’t remember the name of the magazine it was published in, or who wrote it, but I cut it out at the time and would bring it to all my gigs and tape it to the side of he booth. Still hilarious after all these years, and sadly pertinent as well. I remember that DJ Lee Jones (http://www.myspace.com/sundaephiladelphia) from Philly might know more about it.

Not only is this a certified set opener forever, but it will be printed out on a big poster. Its a song along the lines of a classic track called “Fuk Dat” from Sagat. I love tracks that tell it like it is. This is brilliant. Well done.

kind of on the same lines but not as froward is “Club Therapy” (Stanton Warriors refix) by Peace Division. this is more directed at djs that need shit to make them look better then they really are.

It’s a cool song… If the bass lines were not so gay I would actually buy it. I would not mind finding just the vocals to add a little mo thump to it.
