Adam Freeland - Silverlake Pills (Gui Boratto Remix)
July 2, 2008
Adam Freeland, Brighton-based breakbeat king, makes pretty great shit. So does Gui Boratto. On the annoying side, Freeland’s tracks can get too hard and glitchy where Boratto’s music can tend to fall into the repetitive/boring category. Here at DBDF, we tell it like it is. We will call out even our heroes… GOOD THING AS A TEAM THEY CANCEL OUT EACH OTHERS’ SHORTCOMINGS! I was going through stuff I hadn’t listened to in a while and ‘Silverlake Pills’ stuck out, as I have been spending much of my time bicycling around Silverlake as of late. This track is pretty special, I’m surprised I don’t play it out more often (maybe I will start). Sensinstrumental with a nice clean build. Reminiscent of Marc Romboy or Trentemoller’s stuff. Good pre-party jam, or useful as an early set builder for an educated crowd. Around 2 minutes it starts to get maddening, awesome. I just went to the dentist and my face is numb; I feel squirrely, pardon the choppy sentences. I will write ‘gooder’ tomorrow.
